Italy is divided into 20 regions, two of which are islands. Each region includes a capital city and a variable number of provinces. Each province includes a city of the same name and a number of smaller towns called 'Comuni', or municipalities. The Comune is further broken down into smaller centers known as 'frazione', 'villaggio', 'borgata', and 'casale'.
