The location chosen for the event was the elegant, world-renowed Fairmont San Francisco hotel. The 23rd floor Crown Room, where some 24 producers of the best Prosecco DOC wines welcomed the invitees from noon to 5PM, offer a stunning panoramic view of the City and the Bay from atop Nob Hill. The gorgeous blue sky with just the right amount of photo-op white clouds allowed a perfect view of the TransAmerica piramid, Coit Tower, Bay Bridge, Yerba Buena Island, and, far in the distance the port of Oakland.

I arrived at noon to assist Maurizio Favrel, owner of the Azienda Agricola Malibran, who presented his two prize-winning sparkling: the Prosecco Valdobbiadene DOC Spumante Brut Ruio, and the Prosecco Valdobbiadene DOC Spumante Extra Dry – Gorio.

The guests started arriving little at a time, growing in number at around 2PM, but overall we had the opportunity to talk business with all the intetrested parties and Maurizio was overall satisfied.
We congratulate the Consorzio, hoping that it decides to make San Francisco a yearly appointment, as it did with New York.
