Tasting of Ernest & Julio Gallo wines at Milan's "Wine & Chocolate"

On May18 2004, Stefano Mangiarotti, Fine Wine Manager for Ernest & Julio Gallo winery, will pour California wines for a limited wine tasting at enoteca "Wine & Chocolate", located at 63 Foro Bonaparte, in Milan. Italy. E. & J. Gallo is one of the largest California wine producers with interests in Italy as well, where it bottles the "Bella Sera" and "Ecco Domani" wines. For two hours, starting at 8:30PM, Mangiarotti will pour three California wines.
The participants will have a chance to learn more about the wine production from a production area that is getting more and more attention in Europe and worldwide. During the evening, Mangiarotti will show filmed materials to help promote a better understanding of the kinds of terroirs, production methods and rules, vineyards, wine making techniques and other characteristics of the California Wine Country, a production region that is acquiring worldwide importance, but still barely known in Italy.
The wines selected from E. & J. Gallo production for the tasting event are:
- Chardonnay, 2001, Sonoma County
- Zinfandel, 2001, Rancho Zabacho, Sonoma County
- Cabernet Sauvignon, 1999 Frei Vineyard, Single Vineyard, Dry Creek Valley, Sonoma County
