Wines from truffle lands:
San Miniato meets La Morra and Val d'Orcia

The mission of the recently established Associazione Produttori San Miniato (San Miniato Producers Association), is promoting the local wines. The founders believe that the zones where truffles grow are always excellent wine zones, producing especially quality red wines.

mostra mercato del tartufo di San MiniatoTo prove this, the association plans to reach out to other truffle zones, starting with the next 27th annual San Miniato truffle trade show, held from the 10th to the 25th of November 2007.

Following the event, the 1st and 2nd of December 2007, in collaboration with the Consorzio Vino Orcia (Orcia WIne Consortium), and with the producers associated with the Enoteca Comunale (Municipal Wine Bar) of La Morra, in the province of Cuneo, the San Miniato Producers Association presents a weekend dedicated to wine tasting paired with local products and typical recipes.

    The program for the two days is the following:
    • Saturday, December 1, 2007, at Palazzo Grifoni
      • 3:30 – 8PM: Wine Tasting
        Open to the public, with wines from San Miniato, La Morra (Barolo, Barbera), and Val d'Orcia.
        Typical quality products from each wine zone may be offered as well.
      • 3:30PM: Guided Tasting
        Moderated by a well known wine journalist, the guided tasting presents four wines from San Miniato and four from Val d'Orcia.
        The wines will be selected by a technical commission.
      • 5:30PM:Guided Tasting
        Moderated by a well known wine journalist, the guided tasting presents four wines from San Miniato and four from La Morra.
        The wines will be selected by a technical commission.
      • 8PM: Theme Dinner
        San Miniato typical recipes prepared by local chefs, plus one typical recipe from La Morra and one from Val d'Orcia.
      • Overnight Stay
        Participating journalists will be hosted by local producers.

    • Sunday, December 2, 2007
      • 10AM: Breakfast
      • To Follow:
        Visit to associated producers selected by the journalists.
        Visit to wineries and vineyards plus brief introduction to bio dynamic agriculture.
      • 1PM Wine Tasting and Lunch
        Hosted by a local producer.
