Sting
Former Police frontman is the latest among pop, rock, and movie stars to turn to wine production. In fact, Sting is about to launch, in the UK and US, a red wine produced in his own Italian estate in Figline Valdarno, in Tuscany.
According to estate manager Paolo Rossi, around 30,000 bottles of the 2007 Sangiovese-based blend, with a touch of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, will hit the market in September 2009. The label's name has not yet been announced.
The 57-year-old Brit pop legend has lived in Tuscany for decades now, and bought the Figline Valdarno estate in 1997.
"When I came here I wanted first of all to feed my family," Sting told local television station Rtv38. "I also wanted to use agriculture with practices that would nourish, rather than deplete the land, and so we went to traditional methods with farming."

The wine, along with other organic farm products including honey, olive oil, fruit, vegetables and Tuscan salami will also be available at a shop on the property.
