Malibrán Does It Again Staff Writer - May 28, 2006
In 2005 the Azienda Agricola Malibrán was awarded the Gold Medal, Best of Class, Best Sparkling wine awards at the 66th L. A. County Fair international Wine Competition, with its Gorio, the multi prize winner Valdobbiadene Prosecco DOC Spumante Extra Dry 2004.

This year the young winemaker, Maurizio Favrel, who manages the family-run estate, presented two wines to the 67th annual Wine of the World Competition: the new Ruio, Valdobbiadene Prosecco DOC Brut 2005 and Gorio, Valdobbiadene Prosecco DOC Spumante Extra Dry 2005, garnering yet another great honor with both entries.

In fact, at the event held at the Fairplex in Pomona, California, from May 17 to 19, 2006, the Ruio won Gold Medal and the Gorio won Silver Medal, sharing the runner up place with the Bele Casel Valdobbiadene Prosecco DOC, Carpené Malvolti Valdobbiadene Prosecco DOC 2005, and La Torbiera Prosecco Valdobbiadene DOC. The bronze medal for the category went to Villa di Maser Conegliano IGT and Zucchetto Puro Fol Valdobbiadene DOC 2005.
Way to go, Maurizio. As our English editor-in-chief would say,"You're the man!"
