Italian Barman Valentino Bolognese Wins the European Competition 'Angostura Cocktail'

After winning the Italian National Competition on January 8, 2008, Italian barman, Valentino Bolognese, dominated in the European Competition entitled 'Angostura Cocktail', which took place a few days ago at the exclusive 'Mood Bar; in Paris, France.

Bolognese stood out among some of the best European barman who participated in the competition preparing two cocktails: one using the classic Angostura Aromatic Bitters as a base, and the second with the new Angostura Orange Bitters, a variation of the classic variety flavored with orange. The Paris jury consisted of a pool of qualified experts which included Felicity Murray (editor for the magazine 'Drinks International'), Mickael Perron (of 'BarNowOn.com'), Guy Musart (President of the French Association of Bars), and France Bouis (editor of the magazine 'Shaker').

10 ml. Pisco Mistral, 20 ml. fresh lime juice, 30 ml. barley syrup, 30 ml. Angostura Aromatic Bitters.
Ri. Pa. Deuxième
10 ml. Angostura Orange Bitters, 10 ml. Tio Pepe, 15 ml. Bitter Martini, 15 ml. Martini Bianco, 20 ml. 3 years old Angostura Rum.
The two cocktails with which Valentino Bolognese obtained his Paris success are Trinidad Especial and Ri. Pa. Deuxième (see the ingredients on the right). Second and third place went to two unknown barmen from Spain, David Camacho Blanco (of 'Casino Torrequebrada', in Malaga), and Yolanda Guillot (of 'Radio Transito', in Valencia) respectively.
Valentino Bolognese, associated with AIBES (Italian Association of Barman and Supporters), was born in 1954 in the Italian region of Abruzzo, but long since moved to Ferrara, in Emilia Romagna, where he works at the bar 'Pura Vida'. He will represent Europe in the 'Angostura Cocktail' World Competition, which will be held in Trinidad and Tobago, from where Angostura comes, in May 2008. On that occasion Bolognese will face off against some of the top barman from all over the world.
