From Vinitaly to Roma: Introduction of 'Giravino'
the First Official Guide of the "Movement for Wine Tourism"

At 11AM of Wednesday, May 19 2004, at the Roof Garden "L’Uliveto" of the hotel Diana in Roma, Giravino, la prima guida ufficiale del Movimento Turismo del Vinolocated at 4, via Principe Amedeo, the First Official Guide of the "Movimento Turismo del Vino", or "Movement for Wine Tourism", will be introduced to the press.

The guide features 978 wineries plus 23 consortiums and wine roads, 1,027 businesses associated to the "Movement for Wine Tourism" in total, including hospitality enterprises, wine bars and travel agencies as well. The 696-page is published by Casa Editrice Tirso and features some of the most prestigious Italian enogastronomy authors.

The guide is an essential traveling companion for anyone who loves creating his or her own itinerary in the areas where wine means culture, tradition, and hospitality. It is a tool to help visitors make the best of 2004 Cantine Aperte (Open Wineries) annual.

The keynote speakers will be:

  • Francesco Lambertini, national president of the "Movement for Wine Tourism"
  • Vittoria Cisonno, director of Casa Editrice Tirso
  • Donatella Cinelli Colombini, founder of "Movement for Wine Tourism"
  • Piero Bonato, director of CSQA – The institution that certifies the quality of the winery experience.  

In addition, at the event representatives of the wineries associated, the authors of the guide and the regional presidents of the "Movement for Wine Tourism" will be on hand.

A free copy of the guide will be presented to all participants. Starting May 30, 2004 the book will be available in all major bookstores as well as Italian Touring Club offices.
