Bookmark and Share In the early 1970s, when Italian peasants were leaving the countryside en masse to go live and work in the cities, the Giannelli family went against the current and renewed the existing cultivation in their small farm, Azienda Agricola I MORI.

Since then, the commercial farm has gradually been expanded. In fact, the vineyards are renewed every year, based upon a careful selection of which vines need replacing. The new winery was build in 2001 and includes grap press, ageing cellars, a bottling system, and tasting room.

The Azienda Agricola I MORI is set on the hills surrounding Florence, in the Chianti production area where, as expected, the prevailing cultivation is grapes. In addition to its wines, the area surrounding the ancient Castello di Malmantile (Malmantile Castle), where the farm's land is located, has been known for centuries for the production of excellent extra virgin olive oil.

In 1997, the Giannelli family purchased another commercial farm called Podere Canneta, which is located in Montalcino, where it produces the wines for which this hilly medieval town is famous worldwide: Brunello, Rosso di Montalcino, and Sant'Antimo. In addition to expanding the already existing vineyard at Podere Canneta, in 2003 the family completed the construction of a new winery to press, bottle, and store the wine produced there, as well as a tasting room where visitors can taste the noble and precious wines produced there.

Continuing the entrepreneurial spirit which distinguishes this family, in 2003 the Giannellis expanded their business to the Maremma area, in the town of Cinigiano, in a zone where viticulture is doing particularly well. In 2004 and 2005 the first vineyards for the production of the DOC Montecucco wines were planted and, in 2004 still, the family acquired a building to restructure, transforming it into a winery to press, age, bottle and store the wine produced on that estate.
